Duo is actually based on phone numbers, just the way some other social media app, like WhatsApp works. it lets you connect with people in your phone’s contacts list. With the way it is designed, it can toggle itself automatically without dropping your call, it is also designed to work well on slow networks.
Another cool feature that comes with the Duo is, its predefined mode of displaying messages before you pick a call. This way, you would be able to  see what the caller has in mind before answering a call.
