Smart watches shouldn’t look obvious; I mean, they all shouldn’t look like the Apple Watch, with its boxy design, that’s too obvious. That’s why the Oraimo Watch Muse kinda catches my fancy; it looks like a regular watch, and, to be honest, if the user doesn’t tell you and you haven’t used it before, you can’t tell the person wearing it was wearing a smartwatch.

The watch’s screen displays (selectable from the companion app) are mostly analog clock interfaces that make the smartwatch appear traditional and discreet. Here, we’d be reviewing the performance and features of the Oraimo Watch Muse, which packs an AMOLED screen and a good number of exciting features you’d want in a smartwatch.

As expected of the top design of their lines of smartwatches, it’s packaged with a premium box and comes with an extra Silicone strap. Hereunder are the items you’ll find with a new purchase of the Oraimo Muse smartwatch:

  1. The Oraimo Muse Smart Watch

My first impression of this small purchase is quite impressive. It’s a pretty good-looking watch, fit for men and women; it even comes with two straps, of which one appears more masculine, and the other, more feminine. The watch can monitor many health conditions and track several activities; it pairs with Google Fit seamlessly.

To recharge this smartwatch, simply place it on the wireless magnetic charging cable, which is included in the purchase box. Apparently, the display is a touchscreen, so you can swipe and navigate. The only button on this watch is the side button, which serves as the power button and multiple functions, too.

The watch is currently available in a rose gold finish, which is well-polished and very alluring. The AMOLED display is built into the anti-scratch Panda glass, which is scratch-resistant and more durable for everyday use. It is not fully water-resistant, but it can withstand impact from accidental drops and protect from scratches. This is like the Gorilla Glass used on smartphones.

Oraimo Muse Watch Pricing

Currently, the Oraimo Watch Muse smartwatch sells for NGN55,000 to NGN70,000 in major retail stores online and offline, across Nigeria. It’s one of the best affordable options in its price range, with a sleek appearance and good attention to detail.

Build and Display

At first glance, it comes off as a traditional wristwatch with an analog display, and that’s good to keep it discreet. The build quality is solid; you can tell it’d withstand a few mild drops or accidental hard drops. The Panda Glass protective screen helps shield the AMOLED and prevent scratches from building up as you use the watch daily.

Waterproof Body

Yeah, according to Oraimo test results, the Watch Muse achieved an IP68 rating, so it’s all safe to go into the swimming pool wearing the watch, and if you get caught in the rain, there’s nothing to worry about. Good stuff.

Battery and Charging

There are charging ports on this watch; it has a wireless charging pad attached to its bottom, so you have to place it on the magnetic charging cable to charge it. The 260mAh battery can keep you on for a day or two, depending on how often you engage the watch’s smart functions.

Personally, I have used it for 4 straight days without charging. During these 4 days, I received Bluetooth calls with the watch, checked WhatsApp notifications, messages, and other regular uses. No music played. Overall, the battery performance is very much acceptable even for a super user.

Dual Straps in the Box

You get two different straps inside the box; they are both finished in rose gold, but the designs are different. As I mentioned earlier, one of the straps looks more masculine, and the other appears more feminine. So, the Oraimo Watch Muse is meant for both men and women of style. Switching the straps is pretty easy.

Blood Oxygen & Heart Rate Monitor

That’s quite expected from a smartwatch, though. The Oraimo Watch Muse can track your blood oxygen & heart rate monitor in real time; you get to see the data right on the watch’s screen, and more insights are accessible on the companion Oraimo Health app and Google Fit.

140+ Sport Modes

In total, you’re gaining access to over a hundred and forty sports modes, including common sporting activities like running, dancing, and cycling. Each mode is tracked quite effectively, and the data is stored on the app for reference.

My Oraimo Watch Muse Smartwatch Review and Verdict

Oraimo Watch Muse Smartwatch

The creative design is appealing and intuitive; you turn on the watch from the knob on the side and then pair it with the Oriamo Health app to start using it. You can change the clock face to any of the many available preset styles from the app, and you can connect to Google Fit to track your daily walks and other exercises. Overall, the watch feels good, and functions ideally as a smartwatch. For the price, it’s a good buy.

My two major displeasures with the Oraimo Muse Smartwatch are the inability to permanently set the watch faces and the lack of a tap-to-wake feature. The first one is the most annoying one for me. To wit:

  • Inability to permanently set the watch faces: I spent time downloading the watch face that interests me the most, set it as the main display face via the Oraimo health app, only to wake up the next day to see another face on the screen. You have to repeatedly set your preferred watch face as the faces rotate from time to time. This is a big fail (from my viewpoint).
  • Lack of a tap-to-wake feature: This one is not a big issue, as shaking your hand well enough to show you’re about to check the time will turn the screen on. But if, for any reason, you want to manually turn it on, the side button must be used. The tap-to-wake feature does not work on the Oraimo Muse smartwatch.

Overall, it’s a good buy for the price it’s sold for. The lacking features must be looked into, as they could be a deal-breaker to some users.
