AI in 2026 is one keyword that has dominated every sector, including tech, health, business, finance, and home. Left and right, we’ve got smart wearables popping from all sides, and it’s a good one, actually, from smartwatches to smart bracelets, to smart rings, to smart buttons, and now smart glasses.

We’ve seen AR glasses since 2012, but this time we’ve got actual smart glasses: glasses that run an operating system and integrate functional smart features, similar to our smartphones. The JS-01 Pro is one of such smart glasses, and here’s a quick review of its performance, features, and usability.

JS-01 Pro Generic AI Smartglasses Unboxing and First Impression

As expected for an entry-level smart glass, its packaging is basic, with a fabric casing instead of the premium metal or hard-shell casing found on most premium smart glasses. The box itself looks great, but nothing extraordinary. In fact, I had to buy an aftermarket glass casing, as captured in the images below:

The items in the box are:

  1. The AI Smartglass
  2. Magnetic Charging cable (similar to that of the Oraimo Muse smartwatch we reviewed a while ago)
  3. An extra pair of lenses (giving you the option of fashion black and transparent white options)
  4. The user manual
  5. A fabric pouch and small clothing for cleaning the lenses

A Quick Overview

This isn’t one of those popular branded smart glasses; it’s coming from a generic brand. The JS-01 Pro is a pair of smart glasses with a 12MP 4k camera sensor and powered by a 300mAh battery. It supports Bluetooth connectivity and WiFi, having just a 4GB storage capacity.

There aren’t many headline specs or features on this smart glass to elaborate on. It’s a generic wearable to give you a feel for how real smart glasses are. It’s got audible surround speakers and a built-in mic, so you can use it for hands-free calls. Also, it supports ENC intelligent noise cancellation.

To utilize the features and functions of this pair of smart glasses, you have to pair your smartphone via Bluetooth or WiFi using the HeyCyan mobile app. Yeah, you can take photos with the glass and explore its AI capabilities, including auto scene recognition and multi-modal AI dialogue, integrated with popular AI models like Doubao, ChatGPT, and Deepseek.

The storage capacity is where it really sucks; 4GB of storage is abysmal, you can’t store much on that poor storage. However, the design is cool and sleek, and it could fit into any of your daily fashion.

Build and Design

The JS-01 Pro is well built. Why not sturdy like the top of the brass versions, it can withstand an accidental fall, but it’s not waterproof, so you know not to wear it out when it’s raining. Also, the polished black finish finds its way to blend with your daily fits. Unlike most other smart glasses, this one is quite discreet; people won’t easily figure out you’re wearing a smart glass; the camera sensor is pretty much hidden.

Smart Performance

Here’s where to justify the price tag. So, the JS-01 Pro comes with a 12MP sensor integrated into the frame, to the right temple arm, which is also where you get the button controls placed. You have to pair the device to your smartphone via the HeyCyan app to be able to utilize its smart functions properly.

Yeah, without pairing it to the companion app, the JS-01 Pro is a mere spectacle you wear every other day. You have to call up the AI assistant, with “Hey Cyan,” to activate the auto-scene detection, real-time translations, and other AI-related tasks.

Apparently, you can take pictures with the glasses by tapping the camera button (button 1) on the right arm (double-click the button to start recording a video). Also, the right temple arm has a soft-touch button enabled, which means you can tap the side to activate certain functions, such as music playback controls, volume adjustment, and more.

You can pick up calls and record videos in 2k on this smartwear; the temple arms are a bit bulky, but that’s to accommodate the battery, speakers, and mics, my guess. Every video, audio, or picture you take with the JS-01 Pro is stored on the device’s 4GB storage temporarily, and when you connect to the app, you can import all those files to your phone.

General Usage Review

Generally, the JS-01 Pro is there to give you a “heads up” on what smart glasses can do. It’s an entry-level smartwear that lacks mainstream specifications. But it works well, especially in capturing moments, either as photos or videos; the 12MP camera shoots pretty vivid photos and videos with clear audio, thanks to the integrated mic.

The AI functions are where you might have a couple of huddles; it doesn’t run Android, so “Hey Google,” or “Okay Google” won’t call it on. Instead, you say, “Hey, Cyan.” Also, the scene detection and translation functions aren’t as smooth as you’d expect, but hey, they work anyway.

While the JS-01 Pro is very much aesthetically pleasing, it weighs more than your regular glasses; you should expect that tho, especially when you look at the bulky temple arms, but it’s still lightweight. The camera sits on the right temple arm, while the flashlight sits on the left temple arm.

JS-01 Pro Controls

AI Smartglasses control

  • Click the “button 1” once to capture a picture, and double-tap to record videos.
  • “Hey, Cyan,” calls up the AI assistant.
  • “Hello, Cyan, what am I looking at?” will take a picture of your view and look it up automatically.
  • The Bluetooth pairing is activated once the device is turned on.
  • Play songs on your phone, and listen to them through the integrated speakers on JS-01 Pro. Control the playback using the soft-touch button on the right arm.

My Review Summary and Verdict

My Review Summary

Here are my honest takes after using the device for a month and two weeks:

  • It works, but nothing compared to the top brass smart glasses
  •  The AI Quick Image recognition works, but it reads and explains the captured scene only when the HeyCyan app is opened. This is a big fail. The voice follow-up should explain the image in view without necessarily opening the app and viewing the same.
  • The video output is great, but it doesn’t record for 5 minutes straight. It stops after recording for 3 minutes.
  • The audio recording lasts 30 minutes without an option to increase these values.
  • The standby time on the glass is great, but not so great for continuous video recording.

So, the app does not provide an option to increase the audio and video recording length, and no option to start another recording automatically once the 3 minutes are completed on the one you started earlier. You could be knocked out of recording without knowing it stopped after recording for 3 minutes.

test photo

The picture above and the short video below were captured with the JS-01 Pro AI Smartglasses.

In all, the JS-01 Pro AI Smart Glass is an entry-level smart glass with lots of usable functions. You need the companion app to explore the full potential. You might be disappointed with the AI features, because they are not very efficient compared to the ones you’ve used on your modern smartphones with AI assistants.

Looking at the price point, it’s value for money as it gives you a glimpse of what a 2026 smart wearable could do. The battery life isn’t the best around, but looking at the price point, it’s not a bad deal in any way.
