High-Power Car Jumpstarter Kit Review and Performance Test

A dead battery or a flat tire are two common issues car owners face frequently, and they can happen at the most unexpected time. You could prep your car in the morning before leaving the house and still get to experience one of these issues on your way. Before portable car battery jump-start kits became popular, motorists relied on meeting a “good Samaritan” driver who could help them jump-start their car (that has a weak or dead battery). In the worst cases, you’ll need to park the car while looking for battery rental outlets to fix your vehicle emergency.

Now, thanks to these portable battery jump-start kits, you don’t need assistance when your car stops on the road because of a dead battery. Oh, it even got better; these kits are now further equipped with air compressors so they can also be used to inflate flat tires, killing two birds with one stone – an affordable “stone” at that – which brings the High-Power car jumpstarter kit into the conversation.

High-Power Car Jumpstarter Kit Overview

This particular High-Power jumpstarter kit serves multiple purposes; it comes with an air compressor unit for inflating flat tires, extra USB cables for charging your mobile devices, and battery jumpstart cables for jumpstarting your car when the battery is dead or too weak to kickstart the vehicle.

The power bank unit, which conceals a Li-Po battery cell rated at 99,800mAh, features up to four USB-A output ports for you to connect and power or charge other devices, including your smartphones; it also features LED lights that can come in handy in low-light or emergencies.

Features of the High-Power Car Jumpstarter Kit

features

Interestingly, this kit packs a handful of useful features that serve different purposes, especially the power unit.

1. Car Battery Jumpstart Cables

This is the kit’s main purpose: it includes red and black jump-starting clamps that attach to the battery unit and can help you kickstart cars with a weak or dead battery. The clamp cables are quite short, so you need to keep the device close when jump-starting the car with a dead battery; it’s portable and pretty lightweight, so this isn’t much of a big deal.

2. Air Compressor

The kit comes with an analog air compressor device, which is quite strenuous to use, especially if you’ve used a jump-start kit with a digital air compressor that shows pressure levels on a display screen. But that aside, the air compressor works, and that’s what matters. It snaps to the battery unit and can inflate virtually any car tire. There’s actually an analog gauge on the air compressor to monitor the pressure levels.

3. Multi-functional Power Unit

The power unit on this kit is its best feature; it is basically an emergency power supply for car owners, suitable for use in powering a wide range of devices and removable car accessories. This car power bank has a rated capacity of up to 99,800mAh and features four (4) USB outlets to connect various types of devices. There are also high-contrast LED lights on the power unit, which can be used to see in low-light environments or even around the dark corners of the house.

4. Emergency (SOS) Flashlights

The LED lights on the power units can serve as clear, bright lights or flashlights to signify SOS mode while on the road. You can switch between the LED light modes using the dedicated button on the body of the unit.

How To Use the High-Power Car Jump Starter

how to use the high-power car jump starter

If you’ve used a portable jump starter kit before, the procedure is the same; make sure the battery unit is fully charged before you start, even though the battery pack is estimated to last up to 10 jump-start cycles.

Inflating Flat Tires

To inflate your flat tires, you have to connect the air compressor unit to the battery unit, then plug the air valve into the flat tire. If the tire pressure is down to zero, it takes roughly 12 to 18 minutes to get the tire inflated up to 32psi. However, the High-Power air compressor unit I used for this review did overheat in between. So I turned it off to cool a bit before I continued with the tire inflation.

Jumpstarting a Dead Battery

This is where the kit works effectively; it is able to jump-start many car models, including trucks and Vans. To do this:

  • Connect the battery clamps to the power unit and match them to the car battery’s positive and negative terminals; red to the positive (+) and black to the negative (-).
  • Make sure the power unit is turned on and showing at least 3 bars of energy level, then go into the car and turn it on; the engine should crank and start in 1 to 3 attempts.

My High-Power Car Jumpstarter Kit Review and Verdict

review and verdict

For a start, the high-power car jumpstarter kit is quite affordable and works very well for jump-starting a car with a dead battery, but if we’re talking about pumping air into your car tires, it doesn’t do that perfectly. First, the analog gauge on the air compressor unit gives you false readings while it’s in use, and even at that, I noticed visible smoke when I left it on for more than 7 minutes. You’d have to turn it off, let it cool off, then continue again.

The analogue reading meter on the air compressor unit makes it difficult to calculate how much air you’re pumping into the tire. You may end up pumping 28 psi thinking you’ve crossed the landmark 32 psi, or worse still – overinflate your tire massively. It’s better to opt for the SUITU smart air compressor (if air inflation is your only reason for wanting to buy this kit).

Other functions and features of the device, such as the LED lights and USB outlets, work perfectly for their various purposes. The battery unit drops below 40% after you use it with the air compressor to inflate your car tire; safe to say it can only inflate one completely flat tire per charge, as the battery will deplete completely if you try to inflate two tires at a go. The brand needs to consider an improvement in this regard.

Pros:

  • Affordable cost
  • Ultra-portable and easy to carry around
  • Jump-starting works perfectly well
  • Multi-purpose battery unit with USB ports and LED lights
  • SOS emergency flashlights

Cons:

  • The air compressor gauge uses an analog reading that is difficult to keep up with
  • It’s louder than my previous device, while not delivering better performance than it.
